Kansas NOW believes that economic equality is an imperative for elimination of all forms of sexual injustice in Kansas.  Pay equity and livable wages allow women to achieve more within their families and communities.  Fair pay practices must be encouraged in all forms of business and pursued through legislation.

Although women have made remarkable gains in education, the wage gap still persists within all levels of education and experience, regardless of the field.  The pay gap impedes women’s ability to negotiate in the workplace, at home and in the political arena.  Women are much more likely to be single parents.  This makes the wage gap a children’s issue, as well as a woman’s issue.
